All airlines operating international flights to and from Australia are subject to mandatory reporting. All passengers and crew must be reported in the Advance Passenger Processing (APP) system.
This streamlines border clearance processing of travellers. Furthermore it enhances the Australian Government’s ability to target security concerns.
Completing APP checks enables airlines to meet the Australian Government's APP reporting requirements. APP confirms whether a passenger or
crew has authority to travel to Australia.
The Advance Passenger Processing (APP) Arrivals and Departures manual - May 2017 (156KB PDF) is available to airlines with processing travellers.
Airlines that do not report a passenger or crew member might be subject to an infringement of Australian dollar 2100 per person in lieu of prosecution.
