All applications from Brunei (permanent, temporary and citizenship) should be posted or couried to the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. Applicants that post or courier applications from Brunei will not need to provide biometrics.

Payment information

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Visa applications may be lodged at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in Kuala Lumpur. The AVAC accepts payments in bank cheque (not personal cheque) and cash only.   The credit card payment details completed on the application can be an acceptable mode of payment and the transaction will be concluded at the Australian High Commission.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​

Bank cheque

Bank cheque must be made payable to the 'Australian High Commission.​

​Personal cheques are not accepted.

Citizenship

Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office.​​​​

You will need to make an appointment by emailing immigration.kuala-lumpur-visaenquiries@dfat.gov.au.

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Visa label

​​​​​​​​​​​​

You need to have a valid visa to travel to Australia. We do not need you to have a visa label placed into your passport for travel to Australia. This is known as 'label-free' travel, making travel to Australia simpler and more secure.

Residents: Apply in person to the address above.
Non-residents: Ask a representative in Brunei Darussalam to obtain a certificate on your behalf. If this is not possible, you can ask for the certificate through the Brunei Darussalam embassy or consulate in your country of residence.
Provide: a letter stating your full name, date of birth, address, purpose of application, period of stay in Brunei, details of your employment in Brunei (if applicable), and a copy of your current passport and a copy of your identity card stating the colour (if still available).
