Summary

This Service Delivery Partner (SDP) is a commercial company working in partnership with the Commonwealth of Australia to provide Australian visa application services, including:

  • pre-lodgement enquiries
  • visa application lodgement
  • application tracking
  • return of decisions/passports.

 

Biometrics collection

Biometrics are collected from visa applicants in this location. Visa applicants who lodge their applications at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC), will be asked to provide their biometrics at the same time unless they are excluded or exempted. For more information on exclusions or exemptions, please see the AVAC website.

Exemption:
Holders of Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, British National Overseas, and People's Republic of China passports do not need to provide biometric data when applying in Hong Kong for visas to enter Australia.

Visa applicants who post their applications to the Australian visa office or to the AVAC, will be sent a letter requiring them to attend the AVAC, in person, to provide their biometrics.

Some applicants lodging their visas online might be sent a letter informing them that they need to attend the AVAC in person to provide their biometrics.

Summary

This office provides immigration and visa services and applications for citizenship services to certain clients in the People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong (SAR of China), Macau (SAR of China) and Taiwan. We have an agreement with our Service Delivery Partner, VFS Global to provide Australian visa lodgement services. We refer to them as our Australian Visa Application Centres.

You can lodge your application in person at the Australian Visa Application Centre in Hong Kong. The Australian Visa Application Centre charges a fee with each application lodged.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​

We are able to accept bank draft in Hong Kong dollars.

​Making payment in Australia

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

We are unable to accept payment by cash or personal cheque.​

Citizenship

Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office.​​​​

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Relevant document: ‘Certificate of No Criminal Conviction’ (CNCC), obtained from the Hong Kong (SAR) Police Identification Bureau.
Residents: Apply in person to the CNCC Office.
Non-residents: Apply by post to the address above.
Provide: Application form, passport or Hong Kong ID card, and the original and photocopy of the referral letter from the Department office processing the application (see below).
Fingerprints for residents are taken at interview.
You must obtain and send fingerprints certified by the police agency in your country of residence. Include the name and rank of the certifying officer, the full name of the agency, and the certifying date.
Letter of referral: You must firstly lodge your visa application and then obtain a letter of referral requesting the certificate from the Department office. This letter must be submitted when applying to the Hong Kong authorities.
Application form: Residents can obtain the application form at a pre-arranged interview with the Hong Kong Police or download it from the website above.
Non-residents can obtain the form from the same website.
