There is no Australian diplomatic mission in the Republic of Kosovo.  The Department's office in Vienna, Austria, manages visa and citizenship services for clients in the Republic of Kosovo.  Permanent visa applications from clients currently residing in the Republic of Kosovo can also be lodged at the Australian Embassy in Belgrade.

Credit card is the preferred payment option.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​

Cash

You can pay by cash in Euros (EUR) only at the embassy counter. We cannot accept payments in cash in Australian dollars (AUD).​

​Making payment in Australia

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

​Citizenship​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Applications for Citizenship by Descent are processed by the Australian High Commission in London.​​

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Relevant documents: Applicants are required to provide two certificates:

  • 'Vërtetim/Potvrda/Certificate' from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministria e Punëve të Brendshme)
  • Certificate (Certifikatë) from the Basic Court (Gjykata Themelore) in the applicant's place of residence.

Residents:

  • Apply in person for a Certificate (Vërtetim/Potvrda) from the Ministry of Internal Affairsat the local police station or by email to: info@kosovopolice.com.
    A close family member in Kosovo can also apply on your behalf. The representative must present a birth, marriage or family composition certificate.
  • Apply for a Certificate (Certifikatë) from the Basic Court (Gjykata Themelore) in your places of residence.

Non-residents:

  • Apply for a Certificate (Vërtetim/Potvrda) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the local police station or by email to: info@kosovopolice.com.
    Close family members in Kosovo or a representative certified by the court or notary can apply on your behalf. The representative must present a birth, marriage or family composition certificate.
  • Apply for a Certificate (Certifikatë) from the Basic Court (Gjykata Themelore) in your former place of residence, alternatively you can authorise a third party to apply on your behalf.

Provide: The application form and ID. The application form is available at any police station in Kosovo. If you apply by email, attach a scanned copy of your passport and indicate the period of stay in Kosovo.
