The Australian Embassy in Kathmandu has no visa function. Our office in New Delhi manages visa and citizenship services for clients in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. 

We have a Service Delivery Partner (SDP) agreement with VFS Global to provide Australian visa application and biometrics collection services in Nepal through an Australian Visa Application Centre.

Visa applications can be submitted at an Australian Visa Application Centre. Methods of payment accepted are available on the Australian Visa Application Centres website.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Bank draft

You can pay by a bank draft in Indian Rupees made payable to the 'Australian High Commission'.  The bank draft must be redeemable at bank branches in New Delhi. 

We only accept credit card payment for citizenship by descent applications.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Only credit cards issued outside India are accepted.

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

Citizenship​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Applications for Citizenship by Descent are processed at this office.​​​​

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Provide: Application form, a copy of your citizenship certificate, passport and three passport size photos.

Non-resident non-citizens:
While there is currently no option for foreign nationals outside Nepal to apply for a police certificate by post or email, someone in Nepal (a relative, or a former employer if the applicant was in the country for work purposes) may submit an application on their behalf. Persons submitting the application must attend Police Headquarters with the applicant’s documents as listed below.

Documents to be submitted with Application:

  • an attested copy of passport with arrival stamp of Nepal Immigration office while entering Nepal
  • an attested copy of passport with departure stamp of Nepal Immigration Office while leaving Nepal (for stayed in Nepal)
  • attested copies of the certified copies of the documents issued by the applicant’s organisation
  • passport size colour photograph – 3 copies.
