Lodging a visa application
At an Australian Visa Application Centre
We have an agreement with VFS Global in Vietnam to provide Australian visa lodgement services through Australian Visa Application Centres located in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Danang.
Exception: Visa applicants travelling on official government business are encouraged to lodge their applications at the Australian Embassy, Hanoi.
You can lodge your application in person at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Danang. The Australian Visa Application Centres charge applicants a service fee in addition to any visa application charge.

By post to the Australian Consulate-General, Ho Chi Minh City
You can lodge your application by post directly to the
Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City. Please ensure you have enclosed the appropriate visa application charge (or evidence that the fee has been paid).
At the Australian Consulate-General, Ho Chi Minh City in person
You can lodge your application in person at the
Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City by appointment only. Appointments can be made by telephone or email.
Note: Due to the high demand for appointments it could be a few weeks before an appointment can be scheduled. Alternatively, you can lodge your application at an Australian Visa Application Centre.
Permanent entry visas
Partner, prospective marriage and child visa applications from applicants usually living in one of the countries in country coverage list above are processed in Ho Chi Minh City.
Applications for general skilled, business innovation and investment, Distinguished Talent (subclass 124), Former Resident (subclass 151) and parent subclasses are lodged and processed in Australia.
Refugee and Humanitarian visas
Clients from the East Asia region whose application for a Refugee and Humanitarian (Class XB) visa is accompanied by a proposal form (form 681) must lodge their application at our NSW Offshore Humanitarian Processing Centre.
This applies to people who are lodging a visa for consideration under the Global Special Humanitarian Program (SHP) or as an immediate family member.

immigration office outside Australia.
Temporary entry visas
The information below gives the lodgement arrangements for temporary entry visas. For more detailed information refer to the relevant subclass visa pages on how to apply.
Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa (subclass 400) - Visa applicants will need to lodge an online application
Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) - Sponsorship (if required) and visa applicants can lodge an online application.
Training visa (subclass 407) - Sponsorship, nomination and visa applications will need to lodge an online application.
Temporary Work Activity visa (subclass 408) - Sponsorship and visa applications will need to lodge an online application.
Paper applications for the Sponsored Family stream of the Visitor (subclass 600) visa must be lodged in Australia. These applications will be processed at one of the Sponsored Family Visitor processing centres below.

Temporary Work (Skilled) (subclass 457) sponsorship, nomination and visa applications must be lodged online. These applications will be processed at one of the Centres of Excellence in Australia.
If you are sponsored by an Australian employer, you must lodge your visa application at the same office in Australia where your employer lodged papers to support your application. Please ask your employer where they lodged these papers.
Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged in person, by post or at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Danang and are processed at the
Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the
Canberra office in Australian Capital Territory.
