Use Links

There are a couple of different link types that can be used to help you move from one location to another in LEGENDcom. These link types are known as:

  • Jump links
  • Pop-up links.
By using a combination of these links, you can locate policy quickly.

Jump links

Jump links take you from one location to another linking legislation, policy and defined terms relevant to the selected stack (date range). They appear in LEGENDcom as blue text.

To take a jump link, hover your mouse over the link and click once. To return to the document or place you were at before you took the link use the back button on your web browser.

Example: Locating definitions from a Schedule 2 page.

  1. Open a Migration Schedule 2 subclass visa page. In this case subclass 457.
  2. Locate the text or number you need the definition for. Click on the blue number or text link. This will take you to the definition.

Popup links

Popup links, which open a new window, are used to provide additional information and/or several jump links relevant to the popup link and stack (date range) selected. They appear in LEGENDcom as blue text, highlighted green. See step 1 in Figure 2 below for an example.

Note: A popular popup link is the Migration Schedule 2 visa subclass page heading which contains links to Schedule 1, policy and can contain links to the act, regulations and other non-subclass specific policy.

If you select the wrong jump link from the pop up window you can go back by using your web browsers back button. Then click on the correct jump link. Alternatively close the new window, and click the popup link before selecting the correct jump link.

The new window can be moved around the screen, resized as required and closed by selecting your web browsers close button. If you want to view more than one link from a popup window, you can do this by right clicking on your mouse and selecting ‘Open in New Window’. This will allow you to have multiple windows open at the type time.

Example: Locating Schedule 1 requirements from the Schedule 2 visa subclass page.

  1. Open a Migration Schedule 2 subclass visa page. In this case Subclass 400.
  2. Click on any of the part of the highlighted heading. This will open a pop up window.
  3. Click on the blue jump link for item 1231. This will take you to the Schedule 1 requirements for the subclass 400 visa.

Locating policy from a combination of links

Taking a combination of links from the Schedule 2 page can quickly locate policy documents relating directly to a definition, condition or instrument. Selecting the links will take you to the documents relevant to the stack date.

Example: Locating Policy for a condition stated in a Migration Schedule 2 visa subclass page.

  1. Open a Migration Schedule 2 subclass visa page. In this case subclass 457.
  2. Locate the text or number you need the definition for. Click on the 'blue number' or text link. This will take you to the definition. In this case condition 3005.
  3. Definitions that have policy linked will show the number or text heading as a jump link or popup link. Click on the 'number' of text link. In this case click on the highlighted number heading. This will open a popup window.
  4. Click on the policy jump link. This will open the policy document for the condition number.
