Priority consideration (fast-track) service

The priority consideration service is a premium service providing priority processing to certain Visitor visa (subclass 600) applicants.

The priority consideration service is available to eligible passport holders from China, India or the United Arab Emirates who apply for either the Tourist or Business Visitor stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600). Requests for the priority consideration service must be made at the time of application lodgement and in the country of passport.

Making a priority consideration request online

Visitor visa applicants who are applying online can request the priority consideration service in the online application for a Visitor visa. Applicants who request this service must pay the priority consideration fee of AUD 1000, in addition to the visa application charge.

Making a priority consideration request by paper

Visitor visa applicants who cannot apply online can request the priority consideration service by completing Form 1472 – Visitor visa – Business Visitor and Tourist streams priority consideration (fast-track) service. This form and the priority consideration fee of AUD 1000, in addition to the visa application charge, must be provided to the Department (through a service delivery partner (SDP) of the Department) at the time of application lodgement. For further information on making a priority consideration request by paper, visit the relevant SDP website:

Priority consideration processing times

Under this service the Department will aim to finalise the application within 48 hours, which means two business days commencing on the first business day after the application is successfully lodged.  Business days exclude weekends, public holidays and any other holidays observed by the Department in the country of the applicant’s passport. Refer to your local consular/embassy website for details of non-business days in your area.

Note: The Department does not guarantee that priority consideration visa applications will be finalised within the 48-hour timeframe. If delays occur (irrespective of whether the delays are caused by the Department, the visa applicant, or another person or organisation), or if the Visitor visa application is refused, the priority consideration fee will not be refunded. Applicants who are required to do health or character checks or provide other information are unlikely to be finalised within 48 hours.

If you have applied online and are asked to provide additional information, you should provide it by attaching it to your application via ImmiAccount. Do not email attachments or information as this will cause delays in the processing of your application.

The priority consideration service request does not affect the Department’s decisions on Visitor visa applications. To be granted a Visitor visa, all visa applicants must meet the requirements in the Migration Act 1958 and the Migration Regulations 1994.

Visitor visa applicants who request the priority consideration service should wait until they are notified about the decision on their visa application before making travel arrangements (such as booking flights or hotel accommodation).
