​There is no Australian diplomatic mission in Bahrain.  The Department's office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, manages visa and citizenship services for clients in Bahrain. It has a Service Delivery Partner agreement with VFS Global to provide Australian visa lodgement services in Bahrain through an Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC).

​This Service Delivery Partner (SDP) is a commercial company working in partnership with the Commonwealth of Australia to provide Australian visa application services, including:

  • pre-lodgement enquiries
  • visa application lodgement
  • application tracking
  • biometric collection.

Biometrics Collection
Biometrics are collected from visa applicants in this location. Applicants need to attend the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in person to lodge their application and provide their biometrics. A 10-digit fingerprint scan and a facial photograph will be collected.

Summary

This office provides immigration and visa services to clients in United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

It also processes partner and family migration applications from Afghani nationals resident in Afghanistan or Pakistan.

We have an agreement with our Service Delivery Partner to provide Australian visa lodgement services. We refer to them as our Australian Visa Application Centres.

You can lodge your application in person at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres. The Australian Visa Application Centre charges a fee with each application lodged.

Payment information

Visa applications may be lodged at the Australian Visa Application Centre. For methods of payment accepted at the Australian Visa Application Centre GCC.

Demand Bank Draft

Demand bank drafts drawn on a UAE bank only (and in AED) should be made payable to 'Australian Consulate-General Austrade – official public account'. Only Demand Drafts issued with MICR codes will be accepted.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

​Making payment in Australia

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

Payment for Partner visa and Citizenship by descent applications

When lodging a Partner visa and Citizenship by descent applications at VFS Global, two payment options are available:

  1. Payment by credit card, the details must be provided in the application form.
    or
  2. Attach evidence to the application form that the VAC has been paid in Australia.

VFS Global will not accept any other payment method for Partner visa applications and Citizenship by descent applications.

Biometrics

Regardless of your nationality, if you are lodging a paper-based visa applications in the United Arab Emirates, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries and Yemen you will be required to attend an AVAC in person to lodge your application and provide your biometrics. A 10 digit fingerprint scan and a facial photograph will be collected.​ ​

Citizenship

Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office or at any of the Australian Visa Application Centres in the UAE or the GCC, excluding Australian Visa Application Centres in Saudi Arabia.​

Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Residents: Apply in person or by post to the address above.
Residents provide:
A copy of your passport with two non-glossy photographs, a copy of your current and previous Bahrain resident permits, a letter from your current employer indicating they have no objection to your departure. CID will schedule an interview during which you will be fingerprinted.
Non-residents:
Apply in person to any Bahraini Embassy. The application form is to be completed and signed by you at the embassy.

Non-residents provide:
  • a copy of your current and all previous passports that contain Bahrain residence permits
  • a copy of latest Bahrain resident permit
  • three non-glossy passport size photos with a blue background
  • a copy of your CPR card or CPR number
  • a set of your fingerprints taken by local police in your country of residence.

  • Fee: Payable.
    Processing time: Approximately two weeks, however it could take longer.
