Our office in Kuala Lumpur manages visa and citizenship services for clients in Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam. 

We have a Service Delivery Partner (SDP) agreement with VFS Global to provide Australian visa application and biometrics collection services in Malaysia through an Australian Visa Application Centre.

These services incur a fee in addition to the visa application charge.​

All applications from Brunei (permanent, temporary and citizenship) should be posted or couried to the Australian High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. Applicants that post or courier applications from Brunei will not need to provide biometrics.

Payment information

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Visa applications may be lodged at the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC) in Kuala Lumpur. The AVAC accepts payments in bank cheque (not personal cheque) and cash only.   The credit card payment details completed on the application can be an acceptable mode of payment and the transaction will be concluded at the Australian High Commission.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​

Bank cheque

Bank cheque must be made payable to the 'Australian High Commission.​

​Personal cheques are not accepted.

Citizenship

Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office.​​​​

You will need to make an appointment by emailing immigration.kuala-lumpur-visaenquiries@dfat.gov.au.

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Visa label

​​​​​​​​​​​​

You need to have a valid visa to travel to Australia. We do not need you to have a visa label placed into your passport for travel to Australia. This is known as 'label-free' travel, making travel to Australia simpler and more secure.

Relevant document: 'Certificate of Good Conduct' (CGC) issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia.
Residents and non-residents: Residents and non-residents must request the CGC online using the website above.
Once you have submitted your application online, print your application acknowledgement slip, which will have a unique Identification Number, and keep it for reference and collection. When your application has the status of 'Certificate is ready for collection' you can collect your CGC in person or have it posted to you as per instructions on the website.

Eligibility:
All Malaysian citizens and non-citizens can apply for a CGC, except if they are:

  • a non-citizen residing in Malaysia on a Social Visit Pass; or
  • a non-citizen residing in Malaysia with a pass (other than a Social Visit Pass) where that pass, or passes, have a validity of less than 12 months consecutively; or
  • a non-citizen residing in Malaysia unlawfully; or
  • a person who does not hold a valid international passport or does not have at least six months validity on their international passport; or
  • a Malaysian citizen who holds an emergency certificate of identity.

Please Note: The above eligibility requirements provide a guideline only. Do not make your own assessment about your eligibility. If you are required to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct from Malaysia, you will need to request the certificate online.
