Service locations

The Australian High Commission in Abuja has no visa function. Our office in Pretoria, South Africa, manages visa and citizenship services for clients in Angola, Benin, Botswana, Cape Verde, Côte D’Ivoire, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Swaziland, Togo, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

It has a Service Delivery Partner (SDP) agreement with TLScontact to provide Australian visa application and biometric collection services in Nigeria through Australian Visa Application Centres.

Payment information

Bank cheque

Bank issued cheques, in South African Rand (ZAR) only, made payable to the 'Australian High Commission'. Personal cheques are not accepted.​

Cash

Cash can only be accepted when paying at the High Commission and strictly by appointment only.

​Making payment in Australia

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

Citizenship

​Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office or at the Australian Visa Application Centre.​

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

  • An application form (which you can obtain from your local police station),
  • fingerprint form (including a full set of fingerprints), and
  • two passport photographs.

Non-residents to provide:

  • a covering letter formally requesting a Police Character Certificate or alternatively a copy of the Department's letter addressed to you requesting that a certificate from Nigeria be provided
  • two passport size photographs
  • a copy of passport (bio data page and entry and departure stamps from Nigeria, and Nigerian visas or evidence of lawful stay if you are not a Nigerian national), and
  • a full set of fingerprints taken by the police in your country of current residence.
