Service locations

The Australian Emnassy in Ankara manages visa and citizenship services for clients in Turkey. The Department has a Service Delivery Partner agreement with VFS Global to provide Australian visa lodgement and biometric collection services in Turkey through Australian Visa Application Centres.

Applications from clients in Turkey must be lodged at one of the three VFS Visa Applications Centres.

Applicants in Turkey must provide their Biometrics when lodging their application at one of the three VFS Visa Application Centres.

The Australian Embassy in Ankara also manages visa and citizenship services​ for clients in Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Applications from clients in Azerbaijan and Georgia are encouraged to lodge their applications online,  if eligible. Alternatively, applications can be sent by courier or post to the Australian Embassy in Ankara.

Applicants in Azerbaijan and Georgia are not required to provide their biometrics.

Applications submitted in person at the Australian Visa office in Ankara are strictly by appointment only. ​

Biometrics collection

Biometrics will be collected from visa applicants, regardless of nationality, who are in Turkey at the time of making a visa application to enter Australia, unless they are excluded or exempted from doing so under Australian Government policy.

Visa applicants in Turkey, regardless of nationality:

  • that lodge their applications at the AVACs in Turkey might be asked to provide their biometrics at the same time.
  • that mail their applications to the AVAC might be sent a letter requiring them to attend the AVAC, in person, to provide their biometrics.
  • lodging their visa application online might be sent a letter informing them that they need to attend the AVAC, in person, to provide their biometrics.

Applicants that are required to enrol their biometrics at the AVAC will need to contact the AVAC to make an appointment.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

For credit card payments use the Payment Details Form - 1440​.​​​​​

Applications submitted by post must be paid by credit card only. You will need to fill in the payment details section of the application form with the payer's credit card information. The payment will then be processed as part of the visa application process and not at point of lodgement.
Cash

If you are unable to pay by credit card, cash payments can be made in Turkish Lira (TRY) only. Payments made in cash in any other currency are not accepted. Cash is not accepted by mail.

​Citizenship​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office.​​​​

​Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra Visa and Citizenship office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Citizens: There are two ways of obtaining Archived Penal Clearance.

 

  1. Apply in person to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in your city of residence.
  2. Apply online:
    • The e-Government Gateway is a website offering access to all public services from a single point.  Only Turkish citizens are eligible to use this system in order to obtain Penal Certificate. To be able to obtain Penal Certificate through the e-Government Gateway, Turkish citizens have to apply to PTT Centers together with their Turkish identity card in order to obtain e-Government Password which is essential to access the system.    

Fee payable to PTT Centre: TL2 (AUD 0.95)
