Review of the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)

The Government has considered the Review of the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) report in the context of the broader reforms announced on 18 April 2017.

Further information on these reforms is available at Abolition and replacement of the 457 visa – Government reforms to employer sponsored skilled migration visas.

The Review of the Temporary Skilled Migration Threshold (1MB PDF) report was released on 24 February 2017.

Mr John Azarias was appointed by the Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, the Hon Peter Dutton MP, to undertake an evidence-based review of the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT).

The review consulted widely, including with a range of industry peak bodies/associations, unions, government, businesses, migration agents and academics. 40 written submissions were received during the review.

The review was recommended by the recent Independent Review into Integrity in the Subclass 457 Programme.
