The Department's office in Dubai manages visa and citizenship services for clients in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The office also processes Partner and Family migration applications from Afghani nationals resident in Afghanistan or Pakistan.  It has a Service Delivery Partner agreement with VFS Global to provide Australian visa lodgement services in the United Arab Emirates through Australian Visa Application Centres (AVACs).

This office provides immigration and visa services to clients in United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

We have an agreement with our Service Delivery Partner to provide Australian visa lodgement services. We refer to them as our Australian Visa Application Centres.

You can lodge your application in person at one of the Australian Visa Application Centres. The Australian Visa Application Centre charges a fee with each application lodged.

Payment information

Visa applications may be lodged at the Australian Visa Application Centre. For methods of payment accepted at the Australian Visa Application Centre GCC.

Demand Bank Draft

Demand bank drafts drawn on a UAE bank only (and in AED) should be made payable to 'Australian Consulate-General Austrade – official public account'. Only Demand Drafts issued with MICR codes will be accepted.

Credit Card​

Payments using credit card will be processed in Australian dollars (AUD). We accept MasterCard, Visa, AMEX, Diners and JCB. When paying by a credit card you may incur a credit card surcharge, banking and currency conversion fees and you will need to accept the risk associated with any currency fluctuations.​​​​​

Prior to lodging your application, you may need to notify your bank of an upcoming foreign credit card transaction. Failure to do so may result in your transaction being declined. Without payment your application is invalid.

Credit card transactions processed in Australian dollars (AUD) are processed in Australia.​​​​​ A credit card surcharge may apply to transactions made using your credit card.

​Making payment in Australia

Fees may be paid​ at any of our offi​ces in Australia. Once the fee has been paid, you will need to provide a copy of the receipt with your application.​​​

Payment for Partner visa and Citizenship by descent applications

When lodging a Partner visa and Citizenship by descent applications at VFS Global, two payment options are available:

  1. Payment by credit card, the details must be provided in the application form.
    or
  2. Attach evidence to the application form that the VAC has been paid in Australia.

VFS Global will not accept any other payment method for Partner visa applications and Citizenship by descent applications.

Biometrics

Regardless of your nationality, if you are lodging a paper-based visa applications in the United Arab Emirates, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries and Yemen you will be required to attend an AVAC in person to lodge your application and provide your biometrics. A 10 digit fingerprint scan and a facial photograph will be collected.​ ​

Citizenship

Applications for Citizenship by Descent can be lodged at this office or at any of the Australian Visa Application Centres in the UAE or the GCC, excluding Australian Visa Application Centres in Saudi Arabia.​

Applications for Australian citizenship general eligibility and other situations, and applications to resume or renounce (give up) Australian citizenship should be lodged at the Canberra office in Australian Capital Territory​.

Apply in person OR have a representative with a Power of Attorney apply on your behalf at the Ministry of Interior – Directorate General for Criminal Security in Abu Dhabi or alternatively at Police Headquarters in any other Emirate in the UAE OR apply online via the UAE’s Ministry of Interior website.

  • letter from us requesting the Certificate
  • two passport size photographs
  • copy of your current and old passport
  • copy of your UAE ID card (citizens and non-citizens)
  • copy of UAE resident permits (all held) (non-citizens)
  • applicable fees.

Applying outside the UAE:

Apply in person at a foreign mission in or nearest to your current country of residence OR apply online via the UAE’s Ministry of Interior website.

  • letter from us requesting the Certificate
  • two passport size photographs
  • copy of your current and old passport
  • copy of your current/former UAE ID card
  • copy of UAE resident permits (all held) (non-citizens)
  • full set of authenticated fingerprints – certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE foreign mission in the country of current residence.
