Additional documents required for visa applicants

You will need to provide the following additional documentation to the visa applicant to submit with their online application.

Entertainers

Performing in film or television productions subsidised by the government

    Evidence you:
  • have consulted the relevant Australian union/s
  • holds any licenses that are required in relation to the production

Performer in film or television production — not subsidised by government

  • evidence you have consulted the relevant Australian union/s
  • licenses that are required in relation to the production

Performer not in film or television

  • evidence you have consulted the relevant Australian union/s
  • licenses that are required in relation to the production
  • itinerary specifying the dates and venues for all performances

Production roles other than as a performer

  • evidence you have consulted the relevant Australian union/s
  • licenses that are required in relation to the production
  • itinerary specifying the dates and venues for all performances

Support staff for an entertainer or group of entertainers

  • evidence you have consulted the relevant Australian union/s
  • licenses that are required in relation to the production
  • itinerary specifying the dates and venues for all performances

Non-profit engagements (including support staff)

  • evidence the event is non-profit
  • itinerary specifying the dates and venues for all performances

Documentaries and commercials made for use outside Australia

    Evidence or a statement showing that:
  • the position is part of a television or film crew (including actors, presenters, production and support staff and still photographers) to make a documentary or commercial for an overseas audience
  • there is no suitable person in Australia who is capable of doing, and available to do, the work
  • it is not intended that the documentary or commercial will be shown in Australia.

Invited participant

    letter of invitation on the letterhead of your organisation that includes:
  • the name of the applicant and any dependents seeking to travel with him or her to Australia
  • the event(s) name or the nature of the short stay cultural and social activities
  • the dates of the event(s) or activities
  • the visa applicant’s roles or duties
  • the role of your organisation in the event(s) or activities.
  • any payments or other means of support that is to be provided to the visa applicant by you

Religious worker

    Evidence that:
  • the position is full-time
  • the work or activity specifically requires a religious worker and not merely a religious adherent
  • the duties directly serve the religious institution’s religious objectives
  • you have the appropriate experience and/or qualifications for the position

Sports trainees

  • a letter of endorsement from the Australian national sporting body supporting the position and confirming that the person has the ability to compete or adjudicate at the Australian national level
  • evidence your sporting organisation:
    • has an international reputation for training elite sports people or adjudicators
    • is not a sporting club primarily competing at below the Australian national level; for the sport
  • the training program

Elite player, coach, instructor or adjudicator

  • a letter of invitation
  • the contract between your organisation and the person stating:
    • the period for which the contract is valid
    • the level of remuneration
    • the duties of the position
    • the estimated number of hours per week they are expected to serve the sporting organisation
    • dependant family members (if any) that are covered by the contractual arrangement.
  • a letter of endorsement from the Australian national sporting body supporting the position and confirming that:
    • the person has the ability to play, coach or instruct at the Australian national level

Researcher

    Letter of invitation from your institution, indicating:
  • the proposed period of stay
  • details of the Australian research project
  • how the persons skills/knowledge will benefit the project
  • the weekly hours of activity
  • the proposed allowance, if any, from your institution.

Research (Student)

    Letter of invitation from your institution indicating:
  • proposed period of stay
  • details of the Australian research project
  • how the persons skills/knowledge will benefit the project
  • the weekly hours of activity
  • the proposed allowance, if any, from your institution.

Exchange participant

    Letters of support from your organisation and the reciprocating overseas organisation. The letters must:
  • state the purpose of the exchange
  • the name of the person, duties and the period of the exchange
  • state the name of the Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident who will be working in the proposed skilled position, the duties to be performed and the period of the exchange outside Australia
  • state the reciprocating overseas organisation
  • confirm that the Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident will have the same position as previously held, or an equivalent position available on completion of the exchange
  • describe how the exchange agreement will benefit the person and the Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident.

Superyacht crew member

  • a copy of the contract of employment as a member of the crew of the vessel; or
  • a letter from you confirming the persons employment as a member of the crew of the vessel.

Domestic worker executive

  • Your organisations structure chart, showing the location within your Australian operations of the position held by the Subclass 457 or Subclass 403 visa holder.
  • If there are compelling reasons for employing the domestic worker: a statement from you detailing those reasons.
    • otherwise you must have tried to find a suitable domestic worker in Australia - the vacancy must be lodged with a job placement provider for national listing, and where appropriate, with community language newspapers for a minimum of 4 weeks during the 8 weeks before lodging a visa application. Evidence of the advertisements and responses to the advertisements should be provided.
