To help you navigate through LEGENDcom when you first gain access to LEGENDcom, it is important to understand:

  • ​what information you will expect to see on the LEGENDcom homepage
  • the key functions such as:
    • quick links
    • search​​.
  • how to locate Migration and Citizenship data using:
    • a tablet or mobile device
    • a desktop.
  • how to locate Migration and Citizenship forms.

Assistance is provided on how to navigate and locate information in the form of tip sheets and instructional videos. Additional assistance can be provided by contacting the LEGENDcom help desk on 1800 008 717 or legend_com@border.gov.au.

What is located on the home page of LEGENDcom?

  1. Tabs – access to Migration and Citizenship information, forms, help, and quick links containing links to definitions, subclasses, updates and amendments.
  2. Sign out – click to sign out and end the session. The window will close.
  3. Notices – LEGENDcom notices.
  4. Basic search – see Tip Sheet 'Basic Search​'. ​The Basic search is located under the Help tab.
  5. Migration notices – summary of stack changes to Migration Act, Regulations, Instruments and PAMs.
  6. Citizenship notices – summary of stack changes to Citizenship Act, Regulations and Instructions.
  7. External links – useful links to related external organisations.
  8. Terms and conditions – LEGENDcom account terms and conditions.

Locating Migration data


Locating Migration data using a tablet or mobile device

Migration information can be accessed on a tablet or mobile device from the tabs located across the top of the page.

Example: Steps to locating Schedule 2 page for subclass 010 Bridging A visa.

  1. Click on the Migration tab. This will bring up a list of stacks including the Act, Regulations, Policy Advice Manual and Instrument (A.R.P.I.) folders on the left hand side of the page.
  2. Click on the folder for the relevant date range. This will open the table of contents on the left hand side of the page.
  3. Locate your document, for example a Schedule 2 page, click on the white twisty (triangle) next to the Migration Regulations 1994.
  4. Click on the white twisty (triangle) next to the Schedule 2 – Provisions with respect to the grant of subclasses of visas.
  5. Locate the visa subclass and click on the title.

Note: A white twisty (triangle) next to a title indicates a closed folder or category. A black twisty next to the title indicates an open folder or category. To close your chosen folder, click on the black twisty.

Locating Migration data using a desktop computer

Migration information can be accessed on a desktop computer by using your mouse to hover over the Migration tab.

Example: Steps to locating Schedule 2 page for subclass 010 Bridging A visa.

  1. Hover your mouse/cursor over the Migration tab. This will drop down the year menu.
  2. Hover your mouse/cursor over the relevant year. This will drop down the stack date menu.
  3. Hover your mouse/cursor over the relevant stack date range. This will drop down the ARPI menu.
  4. Hover your mouse/cursor over the folder type, for example R, to drop down the category menu.
  5. Click on the category title. This will open the table of contents to the category selected.
  6. Locate your document, for example a Schedule 2 page, click on the white twisty (triangle) next to the Migration Regulations 1994.
  7. Click on the white twisty (triangle) next to the Schedule 2 – Provisions with respect to the grant of subclasses of visas.
  8. Locate the visa subclass and click on the title.

Note: A white twisty (triangle) next to a title indicates a closed folder or category. A black twisty next to the title indicates an open folder or category. To close your chosen folder, click on the black twisty next to its title.

Locating Citizenship data


Locating Citizenship data using a tablet or mobile phone

Citizenship information can be accessed on a tablet or mobile device from the tabs located across the top of the page.

Example: Steps to locating section in citizenship regulations.

  1. Click on the citizenship tab. This will bring up a list of stacks including the Citizenship Act (CA), Citizenship Regulations (CR), and Citizenship Instructions (CI). folders on the left hand side of the page.
  2. Click on the folder for the relevant date range. This will open the table of contents on the left hand side of the page.
  3. Locate your document. For example 'Fees to accompany applications,' click on the white twisty (triangle) next to the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2007.
  4. Click on the title 'Fees to accompany applications'.

Note: A white twisty (triangle) next to a title indicates a closed folder or category. A black twisty next to the title indicates an open folder or category. To close your chosen folder, click on the black twisty next to its title.

Locating Citizenship data using a desktop computer

Citizenship information can be accessed on a desktop computer by using your mouse to hover over the Citizenship tab.

Example: Steps to locating Section in Citizenship Regulations

  1. Hover your mouse/ Hover your mouse/cursor over the Citizenship tab. This will drop down the year menu.
  2. Hover your mouse/cursor over the year required. This will drop down the stack date menu.
  3. Hover your mouse/cursor over the relevant stack date range. This will drop down the CA, CR, CI menu.
  4. Hover your mouse/cursor over the folder type, for example CR, to drop down the category menu.
  5. Click on the category title. This will open the table of contents to the category selected.
  6. Locate your document, for example Fees to accompany applications, click on the white twisty (triangle) next to the Australian Citizenship Regulations 2007.
  7. Click on the title 'Fees to accompany applications'.

Note: A white twisty (triangle) next to a title indicates a closed folder or category. A black twisty next to the title indicates an open folder or category. To close your chosen folder, click on the black twisty next to its title.

Locating Migration and Citizenship forms

Below are the steps to locate Migration and Citizenship forms by numerical order or alphabetical title.

Example: Saving forms to your computer.

  1. Click on the Forms tab.
  2. Click on the Migration forms by 'number link', if you know the number. Alternatively click on Migrations forms 'by title' if you know the title for migration forms. The same process applies to access Citizenship forms. Clicking on the 'by number' or 'by title' link will bring up a list of forms.
  3. Locate the form that you are searching for. Right click on your mouse to bring up the menu. Click 'save target as'. For Mac computers, press the Ctrl key at the same time as clicking on the form number. Select 'Download Linked File' from the right click mouse menu that appears.
  4. Save the form to your computer.
  5. Open the form from your computer to fill in the fields.

Quick links

These frequently used links assist with locating information on updates and amendments, defined terms and lists of current visa subclasses.

Example: Locating visa subclass Schedule 2 pages when the subclass number is unknown.

  1. Click on the Quick Links tab.
  2. Click on the subclasses – alphabetical link.
  3. Click on the blue link, title or number, to go to the Schedule 2 page.

Note: Use the subclass – alphabetical link to view the list of current visa subclasses. Taking a blue link will take you to the current Schedule 2 page for the specified visa subclass. A title or number that is highlighted will open a popup window with additional information. Recently omitted subclasses, written in black text, will contain no links.
